Build with AI
Build with AI connects an AI assistant to the Istari Digital Platform so it can inspect engineering data, create and revise Resources and Systems, run jobs, and help automate repeatable work.
Choose the option that matches how you work:
- Istari AI Chat — Use the built-in web app assistant to ask questions about Resources, work with attached files, and save conversations. See Istari AI Chat.
- Coding agent with skills and the Python client — Use this for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or another agent that can work in a local workspace. The agent can use local files, write scripts, and follow Istari Digital skills. Start with Get started with Claude Code.
- MCP Service — Use this for an MCP-compatible chat client, browser-based OIDC authentication, or live platform calls without configuring a local Key file. Start with the MCP quick start.
Choose a path
Use a coding agent when the work includes local files, generated code, repeatable scripts, or version-controlled automation. The setup installs istari-digital-client and Istari Digital skills in your workspace.
Use MCP when the assistant needs to search the available Istari Digital API methods and execute supported calls as the signed-in user. MCP calls use the same platform permissions, control tags, and infosec rules as that user.
You can combine these options: use Istari AI Chat or MCP for interactive work, and the Python client for workflows that need local file access or reusable code.
What you will find here
- Istari AI Chat — Enable and use the assistant built into the Istari Digital web app.
- Get started with Claude Code — Install the Python client and Istari Digital skills, configure a User key, test the connection, and optionally generate a sample System. The same setup supports Cursor and Codex.
- MCP Service — Understand the hosted service, connect an MCP client with OIDC, and look up the
searchandexecutetools in the API reference.
For Python development without an AI assistant, see Build in Python.
