MCP API reference

The Istari Digital MCP Service gives AI clients two tools: search and execute.

search(code)

Discovers available Istari Digital API methods. The client supplies a Python expression to filter the available methods and parameters.

Find job-related methods:

[m for m in spec if m["domain"] == "jobs"]

Look up a method:

next(m for m in spec if m["name"] == "list_resources")

Find methods that accept a System ID:

[m for m in spec if any(p["name"] == "system_id" for p in m["parameters"])]

execute(code)

Runs supported Python code against the Istari Digital API on behalf of the authenticated user. The client uses the result from search to construct the call.

Supported domains include:

  • Resources — list, fetch, and browse revision history;
  • Jobs — submit, monitor, and manage jobs;
  • Systems — create and manage Systems and configurations;
  • Access — view and manage Resource sharing;
  • Agents — list and inspect agents and agent pools;
  • Users — look up user information;
  • Storage — generate file-download URLs.

The MCP service does not upload local files. For file uploads, use an AI coding agent with the Python client, or ask the assistant to generate a local script that you can review and run.

Request flow

  1. The client calls search to find the method and confirm its parameters.
  2. The client calls execute to perform the operation.
  3. The MCP Service applies the signed-in user’s platform authorization and returns the result.
