Change Log

Istari Platform

New Features

  • Notification Toasts — A new experimental feature that displays brief alerts in the bottom-right corner of the platform for job completions, job failures, and file shares. Toasts can be enabled under Application Settings > Experimental Features. See Notification Toasts for details.
  • System Change Requests - A new experimental feature that allows the user to merge the system configuration from one branch into a different branch on the same system by creating a change request (similar functionality to git merge requests). Once the change request has been created the user is shown a comparison of files/changes between the two branches. If the user approves the changes and merges the change request, the target branch will then have the same system configuration as the source branch.
  • Workflow Log — A new experimental feature that records runs of work performed outside Istari — scripts, CI jobs, batch runs — against a system. Output files and a single log entry per run are uploaded via the SDK and appear on the system's Workflow log tab. Enable it under Application Settings > Experimental Features. See Workflow Log and External workflow logs for details.
  • AI Chat — A new experimental feature that adds a floating assistant to the platform. Once enabled, a launcher button appears in the bottom-right corner and lets you ask questions about resources, models, and the platform from any page. The chat window stays open as you navigate, and conversation history is preserved for the current session. Requires administrator configuration of an AI service. Enable it under Application Settings > Experimental Features. See AI Chat for details.
  • Job Hints on Upload — When you upload a file whose type is recognized by the platform, you may now see a prompt offering to run a matching job automatically — for example, extracting a STEP file from a Creo .DRW. This makes it easy to run automation without needing to know which tool and function apply to your file. See Jobs and Automation for details.
  • Lineage — A new experimental feature that lets you trace how every model and artifact in a system was produced and what it was used to produce. When jobs run, outputs are automatically linked to their input files, building up a full lineage graph without any extra steps. View lineage for individual resources or across an entire system. Enable it under Application Settings > Experimental Features. See Lineage for details.
  • 3D Visual Diff - lets you compare two versions of a 3D model in the platform and see what geometry was added, removed, or displaced. Open a 3D model with two or more versions, select the Compare tab, and choose the versions to compare. It supports OBJ, STL, GLB, glTF, and 3MF files, with structural and displacement coloring, split and unified views, cross-section slicing, ghost overlay, and PNG snapshot export. See 3D Visual Diff for details.
  • NATS Messaging (Eventing) — The Istari Platform Helm chart now ships NATS as an in-cluster subchart that powers new eventing functionality in the registry service. NATS is optional in this release but will become a required component in the 2026.06.01 release, so we recommend enabling it now. IT administrators enable it by setting nats.enabled: true, creating the istari-nats secret, and adding a shared FILE_SERVICE_NATS_TOKEN to the istari-fileservice secret. Eventing functionality is then turned on with the FILE_SERVICE_FEATURE_FLAGS__EVENTING_ENABLED flag. See the Istari Platform Installation guide for setup instructions.

Performance and Stability

  • FIPS 140-3 for SCS Connections - The SCS now leverages FIPS 140-3 attested cryptographic libraries for its TLS connections to storage buckets. This means SCS transfers can be fully protected by FIPS 140-3 algorithms if using a FIPS 140-3 attested storage provider (such as via the s3-fips.[region] routes on AWS S3).
  • FIPS 140-3 for Istari Backend - The Istari registry service now leverages FIPS 140-3 attested cryptographic libraries for its TLS connections and internal cryptographic operations. If combined with a FIPS 140-3 attested storage (e.g. AWS s3-fips routes), kubernetes cluster (e.g. EKS with FIPS mode kernel), and database layer (e.g. AWS RDS), this means data in transit and at rest through the Istari registry service is encrypted using FIPS 140-3 attested cryptography.
