System tree

The left panel of a System is the Resource tree for the branch or commit you have open. Editing which Resources that tree tracks saves a new commit. To arrange those Resources into folders, see Folders. For creating branches and merging them, see Branches.

Browse the tree​

  1. Open a System and select a branch, or open a commit from commit history.
  2. The left panel lists:
    • Subsystems, when the branch tracks other Systems. See Subsystems.
    • Tracked Resources, in folders when the branch uses them.
    • Artifact groups under their parent files, grouped by the job that produced them.
    • Job group nodes with the tool/function name (click the job name for job details).
  3. Click a Resource to view its preview, metadata, and actions in the right panel.

Edit what the branch tracks​

  1. Open the System and select the branch.
  2. Click Edit resources in the left panel. While the draft is open, the control reads Editing resources.
  3. In the builder:
    • Under RESOURCES, add or remove tracked Resources (or upload new files).
    • Under SYSTEMS, add or remove Subsystems.
    • Arrange Resources into folders.
  4. Click Save. Saving creates a new commit on the branch.

Required role: Editor or above.

Accept newer Resource versions​

When tracked Resources or Subsystems have newer versions on the current branch, a New versions available banner appears in the left panel. Click Accept changes to commit those versions onto the branch.

Upload files into a System​

Drag and drop​

  1. Open the System.
  2. Drag files from your computer onto the page.
  3. The Upload Spec dialog opens. Fill in metadata (display name, tags, infosec level, and so on).
  4. After the upload finishes, click Edit resources and add the files to the branch if they are not tracked yet.

From the builder​

  1. Click Edit resources, then Upload under RESOURCES.
  2. Select files and complete the upload dialog.

Required role: Editor or above.

Download files​

  1. Open a System and select a branch or commit.
  2. In the top action bar, click Download.
  3. In Download selected files, select the files in the tree.
  4. Click Download.

Share Resources on a branch​

Select Resources in the System Resources tree and click Share resources. That opens Share selected resources. See Bulk Share Resources on a Branch.
